I Love To Tell The Story
I am inspired from time to time when I revisit some of the old hymns. What griped my heart today was " I loved To Tell The Story" Alan Jackson has my favorite version of this classic. The hymn evolved from an old poem by Katherine Hankey who was born in 1834, . She began organizing bible classes for girls who worked in factories throughout London. While recovering from a illness she wrote the verses that became the text for this classic hymn.
I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love;
I love to tell the story, because I know ’tis true,
It satisfies my longings as nothing else would do.
Refrain:
I love to tell the story,
’Twill be my theme in glory,
To tell the old, old story
Of Jesus and His love.
I love to tell the story, more wonderful it seems
Than all the golden fancies of all our golden dreams;
I love to tell the story, it did so much for me,
And that is just the reason I tell it now to thee.
I love to tell the story, ’tis pleasant to repeat,
What seems each time I tell it more wonderfully sweet;
I love to tell the story, for some have never heard
The message of salvation from God’s own holy Word.
I love to tell the story, for those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest;
And when in scenes of glory I sing the new, new song,
’Twill be the old, old story that I have loved so long.
This is passionate song written by a woman who in her life was passionate about sharing the message
of Christ. It hit me pretty hard today all believers should have this same heart. I was reading through some passages from the bible that declare Messiah's supernatural virgin birth and one of a kind amazing life, Jesus is truly Alpha and Omega the half of his greatness and glory has not been told.
We must tell His story for the same reason that compelled Katherine Hankey.
I love to tell the story, it did so much for me,
And that is just the reason I tell it now to thee.
I believe we should start a revolution of the heart. Let this glorious message of the gospel so resonate in us that we live,share and sing the greatest of all stories.
